Dwayne Johnson is one of the most successful Hollywood actors and seems like everyone loves him. He is also very liked for this entertaining Instagram posts. However, he recently shared a photo which came with some controversy and he received backlash against it.
Last Friday, the Rock shared a post of himself while sitting on an alligator and holding its mouth shut. The photo came with a caption which said, ‘TBT in our beloved Florida Everglades where I tamed Big Bertha — the legendary swampland gator responsible for biting off 7 human arms, 47 toes, 12 truck bumpers, and 1 leather fanny pack. My interpretation of “fun” has always been slightly debatable. Now kindly hold my tequila tea, I gotta gator to wrestle.’
Most of Johnson’s fans reacted well on this post and there are over million likes on it. However, a number of critical comments appeared under the post.
‘Wrong is wrong. He shouldn’t be sitting on an alligator,’ a follower wrote. ‘Try to wrestle the gator in her natural environment and not punish her because of how she ate to survive. Animal cruelty,’ another comment read. ‘@instagram why is there no “report animal abuse” option? This is intolerable!’ a third person wrote.
This isn’t the first photo to bring Dwayne backlash. In fact, he posted a very similar photo two months ago. He used the caption to explain his preparation for his movie Rampage, in which he fought a crocodile. ‘Gorillas weren’t the only animals I spent time with for my RAMPAGE research. Luckily, I’m a country boy who lives only a few miles from the swamps of the Florida Everglades,’ he wrote.
However, the post received plenty of negative comments. Dwayne didn’t give any comment regarding the two photos.
Alligator wrestling has been condemned by the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida. Moreover, attractions like gator shows and alligator wrestling are fueling the independent tourism industry in Florida, but illegal to kill or injure an alligator unless authorized by the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in the state. Nevertheless, Dwayne isn’t injuring the alligator in the photo beside the fact that he received plenty of negative comments.
