All fans who follow Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on the social network Instagram, could see his last post as well as information where he is currently. All those who are familiar with his career know that “The Rock” played a few decades ago for Calgary Stampeders in CFL. After many years, the famous actor returned to a well-known place in the Canadian province of Alberta.
In this photo, you can see Dwayne and behind him the plane, which tells us that he was at the airport in Calgary. But why did Johnson come to Calgary? In fact, it’s a trip for filming a new sequel to the popular movie Jumanji, which should appear in theaters at the end of this year.
“The Rock,” wrote:
“My brain was flooded with crazy experiences here. This is the city where I only had $7 bucks in my pocket all started. ”
It is known that, up to a few years ago, today known actor was engaged in wrestling. But, in his sports career, Johnson dealt with another sport. More than 20 years ago, more precisely in the year of 1995, Dwayne became a player of Calgary Stampeders. However, he never got a real chance to show his skills because the competition in the team was pretty serious. He was a defensive lineman, and besides him, there were players like Stu Laird, Will Johnson, and Srecko Zizakovic. This was commented in one of Ron Rooke’s statements, who used to be president of the Calgary-located club:
“The Stampeders had a loaded defensive line, so it was very hard for him to crack the lineup.”
Defining memories. Wow. Landed last night here in Calgary, Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 to continue shooting JUMANJI. My brain was flooded with crazy experiences here. This is the city where me having only $7 bucks in my pocket all began. I have a deep reverence for this town ~ she shook me in the best possible way. Good to be back. Let’s get to work. #7buckaroos

Rooke also added:
“At that time, the practice roster maybe paid $250 a week, maybe $500 a week. I know he stayed in Motel Village most of the time with a couple of other rookies that were on the practice roster.”
In addition, Ron talked about a conversation between The Rock and Doug Flutie, when Johnson said that he would replace the football career for wrestling.
“Doug and I come through, and Dwayne is there watching wrestling on TV, and Doug says ‘why are you watching that? Don’t you know it’s fake?’ Dwayne turned around … and said ‘Hey, careful. My ancestors were part of wrestling.”
Dwayne Johnson himself spoke in one of his posts at Instagram in 2018, about this significant step in his career:
“I was playing for the Calgary Stampeders, we were playing the B.C. Lions, I was so excited. Two days later I got a cut, dreams shattered, sent home with seven bucks in my pocket.
“Sometimes in life, something you want so badly, your dreams that don’t happen sometimes, they’re the best things that never happened. For me, playing in the NFL was the best thing that never happened.”

An interesting fact is that the film Jumanji, which was the reason he returned to Calgary, had a premiere in 1995. After that, the second sequel, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released two years ago, in 2017, while the third one is currently being filmed.
The crew that participated in the project for the second part is the same and there are Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and, of course, Dwayne Johnson.
He also wrote this in the description:
“I have a deep respect for this town … she shook me in the best possible way. Good to be back. Let’s get to work.”
