The first season of ‘Lost in Space,’ an American television series, was released in exactly one year ago. Then, in May, Netflix confirmed that the series has been renewed for a second season.

This is a science fiction show which is based on the 1965 series of the same name, which itself was a reimagining of the 1812 novel ‘The Swiss Family Robinson’. The series is about a family of space colonists whose spaceship crashes onto an alien planet, which is quite similar to Earth.

There hasn’t been any official release date announced yet for the second season of ‘Lost in Space‘. However, having in mind that the series has a rather complicated production, it is believed that new episodes are likely to appear at the end of 2019 or early 2020.
‘Lost in Space’ Season 2 Plot
The official plot which has been released for the second season reads ‘After crash-landing on an alien planet, the Robinson family fights against all odds to survive and escape. But they’re surrounded by hidden dangers.’
The show focuses on the family of space colonists, Maureen and John Robinson and their three children, Will, Penny and Judy. This family goes on a space mission, but they end up in a wormhole and they have to evacuate.
The first season ended on a cliffhanger. Maureen and John Robinson and their three children were unwittingly thrown into a new galaxy. Hence, they ended in a new galaxy. It is very likely that the second season will explore the new galaxy and try to reconnect with the Resolute.
The Cast of ‘Lost in Space’ Season 2
The main characters in the second season of ‘Lost in Space’ will be played by Molly Parker, Toby Stephens, and Parker Posey. Molly plays the role of Maureen Robinson, a mission commander who takes her family on a mission to colonize Alpha Centauri. She hopes that she will have a new life in a better world. Parker is a great actress and she won an Emmy nomination for her role of House Majority Whip Jacqueline Sharp on ‘House of Cards’.
Moreover, Toby Stephens will portray the role of John Robinson, a former U.S. Navy SEAL who is a husband to Maureen. Toby was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role of Bond villain Gustav Graves in ‘Die Another Day.’ Last but not least, Parker Posey will portray the character of June Harris, a criminal, and psychopath. June takes the identity of her sister Jessica to replace her on the colony ship. Parker has a number of successful projects behind her, including, ‘Futurama’, ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Will & Grace’, ‘Boston Legal’, ‘The Good Wife’, and ‘Parks and Recreation’. She won the Golden Globe Award nomination, a Satellite Award nomination, and two Independent Spirit Award nominations.
