Disney is planning on launching its brand-new streaming service called Disney+. It will launch on November 12th. The users were offered a look at the app and the interface of Disney+. The release date is extremely intelligently placed right between the release of Avengers: The Endgame which is set for the 24th of April, and Frozen 2 and the new Star Wars movie that will be released on November 22nd and December 20th, respectively.
What will you find on Disney+?
Disney’ new streaming service is going to represent a major competitor to a current giant- Netflix. It will also compete with Hulu and other streaming video platforms that are currently in use.
It will include every Disney movie, Pixar’s releases, every Star Wars movie, National Geographic releases, and every Marvel movie and TV show. Oh, and The Simpsons. All of the episodes of The Simpsons. The whole streaming service will generally have family-friendly content.
According to webnewsplanet.com, the price of this streaming service will be 7 dollars per month or 67 dollars per year. This price is, however, announced as the initial price meaning it is possible that it will go up during the next couple of years.
Every movie Disney ever released and that will be released in the future will be available on Disney+. That includes Frozen 2, episode IX of Star Wars, the remake of The Lion King, and Captain Marvel. Not only will this streaming service include those titles, but also new original Disney content such as series following the Hawkeye, Falcon, the Vision, and the infamous Loki.
Live-action Star Wars series following the life of a gunfighter, set seven years after the Battle of Endor is also expected to be found on Disney+ and the pilot episode will be available to watch on the launch day of the streaming service.
More original movies are expected such as the new animated series based on Monsters Inc. and the new Christmas movie starring Anna Kendrick called Noel.
It seems rather understandable that this content will be available only on Disney+. Captain Marvel will not be available on Netflix.
Disney projected that by 2025, it will have over 60 million subscribers, which is less than Netflix has today but still rather impressive. Jennifer Lee, the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Studios, said that the Frozen 2 would be first released in theaters after which it will stream exclusively on Disney+.
You will be able to stream Disney+ through smart TVs, web browsers, smartphones, tablets, and game consoles. You will also be able to create your individual profile and parental controls can be applied for child profiles. The content will be available for download and Disney said that 4K HDR would be available. You can expect to find 500 movies from Disney’s library and somewhere around 7000 episodes of Disney TV.
Whether or not Apple users will be able to subscribe to Disney+ from their Apple devices, is still not known, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
