Laguna Beach Fire – Evacuation Orders

LAGUNA BEACH (CBSLA) — A brush fire that is wind-driven is jeopardizing Laguna Beach’s Top of the World and Old Top of the World residential areas. As a result, these neighborhoods were ordered to evacuate by the authorities in which about 1,500 people were relocated. About 125 acres were burned, and the fire could potentially reach structures.

Aliso Fire started in Wood Canyon behind Soka University and was first reported at 1:07 p.m. according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito.

Officials reported that both structures at the top of the World neighborhood of Laguna Beach and Soka University could have been affected by the fire.

Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene, and a total of 275 members of the fire department was involved in containing the fire. Also, multiple fire engines were dispatched.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
