Keanu Reeves is one of the most successful actors in Hollywood and he has portrayed every possible and imaginable character type. Recently, he shared his opinion on Dwayne Johnson, saying that The Rock knows storytelling.
Moreover, the 54-year-old actor said that if ‘The People’s Champion’ is available, he would love to have him in the next John Wick film. Keanu also admitted that he is a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson, but that he hasn’t met him until now. He also said that if The Rocks likes John Wick, something can be arranged and it would be very much fun.
Keanu Reeves stars in the John Wick series, which is currently having its third installment, titled John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum. The actor has watched attentively how Dwayne Johnson has successfully transitioned to the big screen from the WWE world.
‘I’m not surprised by his success, not at all,’ said the John Wick star, ‘He’s been an entertainer for a long time, so he knows storytelling. He also knows sport and physicality, and he’s very dynamic and charismatic. He’s a great hero, great anti-hero, and his action is great.’
Keanu has been a huge wrestling fan since childhood and he still recalls his childhood memories at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. He admitted that it was his nanny who is responsible for his exposure to pro wrestling. She took him to several life events as he was a huge fan of The Sheik. They also watched plenty of wrestling on TV.
The pro wrestling business works with pay per views, which is quite similar to the work Keanu Reeves is doing with the John Wick franchise and each of the new installments. In fact, he doesn’t know how the audience will accept and react to his storytelling.
‘You come up with stuff and hope the audience likes it, but we can’t predict it,’ said Keanu, ‘We can only hope. After Chapter Two, Chad Stahelski, the director and visionary of the Wick films, he and I had ideas. But we didn’t know if we’d have a chance to tell them because we didn’t know how the audience would react to Chapter Two. It was received warmly, which was great, and gave us the opportunity for Chapter Three.’
The views seem to believe its authenticity due to the realistic characters and convincing yet gripping fight scenes. ‘We had a bunch of ideas of where John would go in Chapter Three. We wanted to open the world of the Continental, the High Table, introduce new characters, and there were lots of ideas for different situations of John Wick action,’ admitted Reeves.
So, Keanu is extremely grateful for the people who support him and his work. He wouldn’t have succeeded without the artistic and financial help, as well, as the people who enjoy the stories so much.
